This report describes exposures of voids associated with previously described fissures in the
Magnesian Limestone beneath a major road (the A 690) in the City of Sunderland. Evidence of
recent ground movements and their relevance to the nature and timing of ground movements
beneath the road are discussed. In addition to recording observations made during repair work to
the road, the report is intended to inform and guide the planning, management and maintenance
strategies for the road and surrounding areas.
