Become a data wizard with the EDS

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Environmental Data Service (EDS) is a trusted UK facility providing long-term data stewardship, ensuring environmental data are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR). The EDS operates through five specialist environmental data centres, bringing expertise across a wide range of disciplines including marine, geoscience, polar, atmospheric and earth observation, terrestrial, freshwater and hydrological sciences.

To support the research community, the EDS has recently developed various training materials designed to improve data skills across the full data lifecycle. These free and open resources guide researchers through key topics including FAIR data principles, data management planning using our own data stewardship wizard tool, data publication, and the importance of detailed metadata. By adopting best practices, researchers can maximise the value of their data, enhance their scientific profile, and enable new discoveries as well as collaborations.
