Report on Community Conversation #4: enhancing discoverability & access to environmental exposure data and methods.
UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, 13pp.
(Community Conversation: co-designing digital infrastructure for environmental science)
(Unpublished)
This report presents insights from the fourth instalment of our online Community Conversations series, which explores how to improve the discoverability and accessibility of environmental exposure data and methods, and how to deliver more integrated monitoring, modelling and data for the UK environment. During the session, we shared progress on NC‑UK’s UK Environmental Exposure (UK‑EEx) Hub project—an emerging centralised knowledge hub designed to connect aquatic, atmospheric and terrestrial pollution data and strengthen understanding of the UK’s chemical environment. The workshop aimed to surface key datasets, tools and integration activities that can guide the project’s next phase. The event attracted strong interest, bringing together 40 participants from academia, government and industry, including 14 from UKCEH. Key findings included integrating datasets across domains, enhancing data quality and reliability, adopting systems‑thinking approaches to break down siloed data practices, and improving metadata to support transparent provenance.
