Abstract/Summary

This report contains the results of Ar-Ar geochronological analysis of a sample of igneous rock from well 62/7-1, drilled to the south-west of Ireland. An average age of 93.8 ± 1.0 Ma was derived from the weighted mean of the two plateau ages for this sample. The report also documents an unsuccessful attempt to date an igneous sample from well 13/3-1, to the north of Ireland, using U-Pb methods. Both samples were provided by the Irish Petroleum Affairs Division, Dublin. The results presented here complement a larger confidential study of the igneous evolution of the UK Atlantic Margin undertaken by BGS and Rockall Consortium.
