Abstract/Summary

Sampling at abyssal depths in the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean has provided six specimens of the rarely collected amphipod genus Vemana (Crustacea, Amphipoda, Amphilochidea, Alicelloidea, Vemanidae). These new collections represent two distinct entities which are fully illustrated and described herein as Vemana cuspidata sp. nov. and Vemana hortonae sp. nov. With the addition of the new material, the total number of known specimens is increased by 67%. The five species currently accepted in the genus are diagnosed and a key to all seven species is provided.
