Abstract/Summary

This mooring timeseries compilation contains temperature, salinity, current velocity measured from a wide range of marine instrument in the Southern Ocean (90°S-60°S) since 1975. It provides with an opportunity to investigate the broad scale climatology of the Southern Ocean shelf dynamics and shelf connecitivity of dense shelf water and freshwater propogation, and facilitate the timeseries analysis across various timescales. The creation of this compilation is endorsed by Ocean-Cryosphere Exchanges in ANtarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System (OCEAN ICE) project (https://ocean-ice.eu/). OCEAN ICE is a new Horizon Europe project, funded by the European Commission and UKRI. The project started on the 1st of November 2022 and will run for 4 years until 31st October 2026. Users are asked to make sure to refer the individual mooring timeseries to the original owner and database. This information is provided in each individual NetCDF file.
