Data for Science : A geoscience data hub enabling our science

Nayembil, Martin. Data for Science : A geoscience data hub enabling our science. [Poster] In: BGS Science Advisory Committee, Keyworth, Nottingham, 03-07-2023. (Unpublished)

Abstract
Research today is heavily data-driven. Data is a crucial ingredient in tackling the geoscience challenges of today and tomorrow. To facilitate and enable this data-driven science, as well enabling industry as part of our public good work, BGS maintains and develops an integrated geoscience data hub that collates data from multiple sources and formats, managed and made accessible through various outlets for both our internal and external users. The data within the hub is underpinned by the FAIR data principles that make data findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable. Capturing metadata at all levels is also fundamental to ensuring there is an understanding of what the data is and for its provenance and quality.
