Howard, Bruce; and the Network team, X. Ecosystems Knowledge Network website - Phase 1, as hosted by Defra. Ecosystems Knowledge Network 31 January 2011, http://ekn.defra.gov.uk [Output (Electronic)]

Abstract
Summary - this was the first phase in the development of a website for the Ecosystems Knowledge Network: a resource for anyone wanting to share knowledge or learn about the practical benefits of an ecosystems approach to both people and nature. The Ecosystems Knowledge Network is a commitment specified in the HM Government 2011 Natural Environment White Paper. The Network was initiated and developed by a team drawn from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the University of Exeter, Countryscape and the Natural Capital Initiative (represented by the Society of Biology). The website was live from January 2011 to December 2013, with hosting provided by the project sponsor, Defra. An ecosystems approach is a holistic and inclusive approach to looking after the natural environment. This website contained over 100 pages to guide visitors towards resources that explain an ecosystems approach and show what it means in practice. This included profiles of place-based projects that reflect an ecosystems approach.
