DiGMapGb-50 V7 dataset (Offshore Bedrock) released.

DiGMapGB50-v7 was released in June 2013. This latest release focussed on improving the user experience of the data with significant improvements made to edge matching of the component tiles and harmonisation of the lexicon nomenclature. Over 250,000 edits had been made to the dataset since the previous release, with numerous new geological sheets incorporated into the final dataset (all 'surveyed' and approved geology up to 31/12/2012 has been incorporated). The new data set is now being used to underpin the Georeports and OpenGeoscience activities of the BGS website. The full dataset comprises almost 940000 objects across 5 layers of Bedrock, Superficial, Artificial,Mass movement and linear features. DiGMapGB50-V7 forms a major underpinnng dataset for many BGS projects and is a vital tool in our public good role. As a commercial product the dataset also generates considerable licence income as well as royalties from the many Value added resellers that use BGS datasources.
