Abstract/Summary
The UK Continental Shelf hydrocarbon well collection managed by BGS, contains material from approximately 8000 wells, including over 300 km of drill cores, 4.5 million samples of cuttings, and the associated records. The drill cores have been photographed at high resolution (40 million pixels) and are now available as a series of 125 000 images on the BGS website. These images form a valuable resource for planning hydrocarbon exploration on the UKCS.
