Abstract
The report describes the findings of a site visit and brief literature review in the context of the
geology, hydrogeology and hydrology of the abandoned Abbey Consols metal mine in mid-
Wales. Data presented in an ExCAL report provided by the Environment Agency have been
reviewed, in particular with respect to the composition and chemistry of the spoil heaps.
Consideration has been given to the conceptual site model and its associated uncertainties, which
have been used to assess current proposals regarding remediation of the site.
