Revealing Antarctica's secrets

Abstract
In the clamour of predictions about future climate changes, it can be difficult to get hold of facts. However, by drilling ice cores from polar ice sheets and analysing them, we can obtain data on the atmosphere – its temperature and composition – as far back as a million years ago. The resulting patterns can help us to predict what climatic conditions we might expect in the future.
