Abstract
An integratedr econnaissancseu rveyw as carriedo ut over 600 km* of Lower Palaeozoics edimentsa nd Caledoniang ranitesi n south-west Scotland. Airbornee lectromagneti(cI PI)m,a gnetic,a nd radiometrics urveys were made over three sectorso f the projecta rea consideredo n available geologicale videncet o offer environmentsf avourablet o mineralisation. The B-4a nd magnetics urveyss howedp rominenta momaliesa ssociatedw ith belts of black shales and a number of these are currently under examination. metric survey ground survey of the spatialr elationshipso f the major granitep lutons. Field and geochemicals urveysl ed to the discoveryo f many new No significanta nomaliesw ere indicatedb y the radioand no importantr adioactivem ineralisatiowna s found in follow-up. The gravity survey has improved the knowledge mineralp rospects. Gold, not previouslyr eportedi n the projecta rea, was shown by panningt o have a wide distributiona nd severali nteresting copper,l ead, zinc, molybdenuma nd tungsteno ccurrencesh ave been found.
