Abstract/Summary

During 1990, a fatal condition occurred in a population of farmed rainbow trout. Diseased animals displayed pronounced jaw erosion, with an accompanying yellow hue in the vicinity of the lesions. A previously unidentified Cytophaga-like bacterium was recovered on Cytophaga agar. Pathogenicity was confirmed in laboratory-based experiments.
