Abstract
This report presents the results of X-ray diffraction analysis of the sample Asby ‘monolith’ 7, a palaeokarst sample from pits in the Carboniferous limestones near Asby, Cumbria (Riding, 2002 for further details). The purpose of this report is to identify the mineralogy of the sample by X-ray diffraction analysis. In addition to X-ray diffraction analysis, a surface area determination was made using the 2-ethoxyethanol (EGME) method. The sample is listed in Table 1.
