Simpson, B.A.. 2002 Bulletin of British earthquakes 2001. Edinburgh, UK, British Geological Survey, 104pp. (IR/02/026) (Unpublished)
The British Geological Survey's Seismic Monitoring and Information Service operates a nationwide network of seismograph stations in the United Kingdom. The whole of the UK, including coastal waters, is covered within the limits of the detection capabilities of the seismograph network, and accuracy is extended through data exchange with neighbouring countries. Seismic phase data, location details and magnitudes are presented in the Bulletin for all earthquakes detected and located by BGS during 2001 together with maps showing the larger magnitude events since 1979 (ML> 2.5) and since 1970 (ML> 3.5). All felt areas are quoted in km², and are for the area enclosed within isoseismal 3 EMS (European Macroseismic Scale, Appendix C).
