(Unpublished)
The project described in this report was commissioned by the Environment Agency and conducted by the British Geological Survey between November 2021 and March 2022. The project consisted of obtaining groundwater temperature profiles for selected OBHs and the design and implementation of a pilot groundwater temperature monitoring network within four pilot catchments in England. The purpose was to obtain information that can be used by the EA to inform the development of a future national groundwater temperature monitoring network for England.
This report details the selection of the pilot catchments, describes the groundwater temperature profiles obtained and design and implementation of the pilot network, and identifies lessons learnt relevant to the development of a future national groundwater temperature network.
The project forms part of the UK’s wider Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) programme.
