Abstract

Ed Tipping’s career as an environmental scientist began in 1978 at the Freshwater Biological Association. Since then, he has made major contributions to understanding and predicting the behaviour of metals in the environment, the cycling of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus through soils and waters, and the role of environmental chemistry in the exposure of organisms to potentially toxic metals. This collection pays tribute to his scientific career and accomplishments.
