This chapter addresses data management in support of geological modeling. All geological survey organizations that are engaged in 3-D modeling have had to organize their data and store their outputs. The principal aspects of data management are: managing the multiple data sources, managing the connectivity among the data sources, and managing the model outputs. The chapter describes the management of databases defining geological properties that are required to convert geological framework models into process models. It discusses data management at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. Ground-based and airborne geophysical measurements have contributed significantly to the mapping of aquifers in Denmark. Transboundary modeling serves as a framework for various national groundwater management studies and for more detailed models. The chapter concludes with several illustrative examples demonstrating the role of data management in providing efficiency to geological modeling applications.
