Abstract/Summary

Following the publication of shale gas resource estimates for the Carboniferous Bowland-Hodder shales in northern England (Andrews 2013) and shale oil estimates for the Jurassic of the Weald Basin in southern England (Andrews 2014), this report summarises the background geological knowledge and resource assessment methodology for a preliminary in-place shale gas and shale oil resource calculation undertaken for the Carboniferous shales of the Midland Valley of Scotland.....continues.
