Does the compass truly point North?

As part of the outreach and knowledge exchange, Dr Ciaran Beggan participated in a web-based lecture series through the Science Learning Centre at Keele University. The SLC produces material for secondary schools to help teach science. This series called 'ScienceNow' was for physics teachers in schools across the UK to be briefed about topical science from experts in the research area. Dr Beggan gave a presentation on the current state of magnetic field research and the risks to technology from space weather, including results from work on his NERC New Investigators grant.
