Abstract/Summary

A numerical model calculation of the depth-averaged residual circulation on the North West European Shelf for the period of the North Sea Project Survey, August 1988 to October 1989, is presented. The daily mean distributions of residual current and elevation are shown, together with time series of volume transports across a number (17) of strategic shelf wide sections. Time series of model currents are also compared with observed mid-depth currents at some North Sea locations. This report is seen principally as a presentation of results and a brief summary of analysis is given. A subset of these data, the daily mean currents and their variances in the southern North Sea, is available in digital atlas form on floppy disk.
