Abstract/Summary

Pumice is a pale coloured, highly vesicular volcamc glass, usually occurrmg as massIVe blocks or unconSOlidated, fragmented material. It is formed from sl1icic lava rich in dissolved volatiles particularly water vapour, which on eruption generates a frothy mass.
