Abstract/Summary

SALTMED model has been developed for generic applications. It accounts for different: irrigation systems, crops, soil types and fertilizer applications. The SALTMED model (Ragab, 2002, 2005, 2009) was developed to predict dry matter and yield, soil salinity and soil moisture profiles, salinity leaching requirements and soil nitrogen dynamics and nitrate leaching, soil temperature, water uptake, evapotranspiration. The model is friendly and easy to use benefiting from the WindowsTM environment; however, it is a physically based model using the well-known water and solute transport, evapotranspiration, and water uptake equations.
