The lumbricid earthworm Prosellodrilus amplisetosus Bouché, 1972 is reported for the first time from Ireland. One mature individual was found in an arable field, on gley loam soil, in County Louth. Since the endemic range of P. amplisetosus is restricted to the Aquitaine area in south-eastern France, this record probably reflects the fact that human-mediated introductions of soil invertebrates including earthworms occur presently.
