Catchment Modelling using LF2000-WQX: Model validation and National Assessment of Concentrations for LAS, triclosan and methyltriclosan

Williams, Richard; Zhang, Zhong; Price, Oliver. 2009 Catchment Modelling using LF2000-WQX: Model validation and National Assessment of Concentrations for LAS, triclosan and methyltriclosan. NERC/Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, 63pp.

Abstract
The eco-toxicological effects of organic micro-contaminants released into water via WwTPs through the everyday use of common commercial products are of concern to regulators. This study was designed to predict concentrations of two such compounds – triclosan and linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) and methyl-triclosan a metabolite of triclosan in river reaches in England and Wales downstream of significant WwTP discharges. The predicted concentrations are to be used in a risk assessment by Unilever PLC as part of its environmental research programme.
