Abstract/Summary
This report summaries depositional trends for key Upper Jurassic mudstone units (Oxford Clay, Ampthill Clay and Kimmeridge Clay formations) across England and adjacent offshore regions of the southern North Sea. For each of the selected geological units, this report summarises information about: • Geological context, basin architecture, depositional setting • Thickness trends and basin evolution • Stratigraphy • Main lithofacies types • Typical bulk geochemical composition • Facies trends related to stratigraphical classification • Lateral variation in lithofacies related to lateral changes in environmental conditions (environmental gradients)
