Abstract/Summary

This atlas publishes the most extensive national-scale maps of topsoil geochemistry for the UK yet available. It provides an overview of rural and urban topsoil geochemistry across the country, showing the natural variability in element distributions, as well as human impacts. It represents one of the most detailed datasets of its kind internationally. The projects that produced these data conducted geochemical surveys across the UK to improve understanding of our geology, mineral, soil, and agricultural resources, and to provide an environmental baseline that serves as quantitative evidence against which future environmental change can be gauged. This atlas has been published as an ‘interactive pdf document’, which features several functions that allow the reader to access and display different geochemical maps and information in various ways. This atlas is designed to be downloaded and read in two-page view using Adobe pdf software (e.g. Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat). If viewed using other software, e.g. within your browser, certain interactive elements may not display or function as intended.
