Abstract/Summary

This model configuration has been developed through the Commonwealth Marine Economies Programme "Enabling safe and sustainable marine economies across Commonwealth Small Island Developing States". The Commonwealth Marine Economies (CME) Programme was announced by the British Prime Minister in 2015 to help Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) make the most of their natural maritime advantages, to enable sustainable economic growth and alleviate poverty. Model Summary This configuration has been specifically set up for the NEMO community ocean model and is close to version 3.6 of the code base (see disclaimer below). The model grid has 1/12° lat-lon resolution and 75 hybrid sigma-z-partial-step vertical levels. The domain covers -4.91°N to 31.56°N, 100.17°E to 54.92°E. For more details on the model parameters, bathymetry and external forcing, see Wilson, Harle and Wakelin (2019). Model Setup Before downloading the source files download the attached README.md and/or the Caribbean_setup bash script. These will have information on how to set up the Caribbean configuration. NB: It appears that when minting a DOI in Zenodo from a linked GitHub release, only the code is preserved; any additional assets are ignored. The additional binary data required to run this configuration can be obtained via: https://github.com/NOC-MSM/Caribbean/releases/download/v1.0/caribbean_netcdf_files.tar.gz Disclaimer The Caribbean regional configuration was set up and run on the ARCHER HPC facility using a variant of the NEMO version 3.6 code base. This configuration is intended as a reference to the science report and not a generic method to set up and run a NEMO Caribbean regional model. There is no guarantee that it will work with other versions of the NEMO code base other than that referenced in the README.md or the Caribbean_setup bash script.
