Geological Map of Eastern Graham Land, Antarctic Peninsula

This single-sided geological map covers the eastern sector of Graham Land of the northern Antarctic Peninsula. The Antarctic Peninsula is one of the major crustal blocks of West Antarctica and is a key component of the proto-Pacific margin of Gondwana. The geology of eastern Graham Land has strong affinities to that of Patagonia and there was probably considerable overlap between the northern Antarctic Peninsula and western Patagonia from the Late Palaeozoic up until Cenozoic separation. The geology of eastern Graham Land is characterised by a long succession from Ordovician-age crystalline basement through to Neogene basaltic volcanic rocks of the James Ross Island Volcanic Group.
