Abstract/Summary

In March 2002 BGS hydrogeologist, Jeffrey Davies, visited Ghana to disseminate the results of hydrogeological studies undertaken in the Afram Plains, Eastern Region, Ghana, as part of DFID funded KAR project R7353, Low Permeability Rocks in Sub-Saharan Africa. The visit was facilitated by WaterAid Ghana. The itinerary of Mr Davies is detailed in Appendix 1 and a full list of persons met and institutions visited is given in Appendix 2. This back to office note reports the key findings of the visit and provides a record of activities undertaken, data collected and persons met. The terms of reference for the visit were as follows: 1. Present the results of the KAR Project R7353 Low Permeability Rocks in Sub-Saharan Africa to interested parties in Ghana and obtain feedback from them 2. Collect additional data and reports relevant to groundwater development in the Afram Plains 3. Recommend follow-up work in Ghana.
