Abstract/Summary

We designed and constructed an automatic titrator that uses a personal computer (PC) and commercially available components. The titrator can be used for a wide variety of tasks including pH logging, titrations (including «salt titrations»), and two-way pH stats. The titrator is programmed using a simple command language that enables it to carry out a timed sequence of commands. Examples are given that illustrate the titrator's use for: conventional acid-base titration using dynamic dose sizing; the base-acid-base titration of an acid soil; and the automatic determination of Cd binding by humic acid at a fixed pH
