Abstract/Summary

The Geological Surveying and Investigation in 3 Dimensions (GSI3D) software tool and methodology has been developed by Dr. Hans-Georg Sobisch (INSIGHT GmbH) over the last 15 years. Initially development was in collaboration with Drs.Carsten Hinze and Heinrich Mengeling of the NLfB (Niedersaechsisches Landesamt fuer Bodenforschung - Soil and Geological Survey of Lower Saxony) based in Hannover (Hinze, Sobisch and Voss, 1999; Sobisch 2000). From 2000-04 BGS acted as a test bed for the accelerated development of the tool and methodology from 2002 and in 2004 BGS bought a perpetual unrestricted license for the use of GSI3D.
