Abstract/Summary

The lumbricid earthworm Dendrobaena attemsi was recorded at five locations in Ireland at various dates in 2008–2013. These records from counties Dublin, Waterford and Wicklow confirm unequivocally the presence on the island of Ireland of D. attemsi previously only known from a single record from Co. Donegal in 1979. While two of the present records from Dublin (National Botanic Gardens and University College Dublin) mirror international reports of D. attemsi from anthropogenic habitats, the other records from woodlands (including an ancient oak woodland) tend to suggest that D. attemsi is a natural element of the Irish fauna.
