An area of approximately 3338km2 was sampled with the collection of 616 stream sediments, 528 surface waters, 540 panned concentrates, 1674 surface soils and 1673 profile soils. Sampling was carried out from five base camps at Culford near Bury St Edmunds, Ashdon near Saffron Walden, Monk Soham in Suffolk, Waldringfield in Suffolk and Chattisham near Ipswich.
