Abstract/Summary

Summary - this was the second phase in the development of a website for the Ecosystems Knowledge Network: a resource for anyone wanting to share knowledge or learn about the practical benefits of an ecosystems approach to both people and nature. The Ecosystems Knowledge Network is a commitment specified in the HM Government 2011 Natural Environment White Paper. The Network was initiated and developed by a team drawn from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the University of Exeter, Countryscape and the Natural Capital Initiative (represented by the Society of Biology. The website was live from January 2013 and represents the long-term domain for the Network. The Network is a resource for anyone wanting to share knowledge or learn about the practical benefits of an ecosystems approach to both people and nature. An ecosystems approach is a holistic and inclusive approach to looking after the natural environment. This website contains over 130 pages of information to help visitors apply an ecosystems approach. It includes descriptions of Network events, links to on-line resources and sections that describe the application of the approach in various sectors and professions. The website routinely attracts over 1000 unique visitors per month.
