Abstract/Summary

This is the latest in a long running series of field guides produced by the Geologists’ Association. It is an update of guides published in 1958 and 1967 and covers sites within an area bounded by the M25. It must have been with some trepidation that the compiler of this new guide considered the apparently daunting task of bringing together a range of geoscience information to inspire the general public, amateur and professional geologists alike to explore the hidden riches of London geology. The enlistment of the support of many of the geoscientists and archaeologists who currently know London like the back of their hands has resulted in an authoritative and informative account in a well designed, pleasantly tactile, ring bound, colour illustrated, soft backed book. It is approximately A5 size (about 165 mm × 215 mm) that just about fits into the largest pocket in my anorak.
